Measurement of Program Success (required) |
Through a peer education model, the initial target for the first year is to reach 200 young people from the selected cities and empower them with ICT skills.
Student Success:
One outcome of the program is undoubtedly successful ICT specialists, and the level of knowledge of the ‘graduates’ of the program will be measured using Cisco Networking Academy Program on-line examination system. Every level of the ICT education will be based on Cisco Networking Academy Program, and the internal on-line examination system will be used all through the project for monitoring and improvement in terms of the education. In addition, the youth will work together on Mediterranean Youth Club activities on a project basis. The success of each group and individual will also be measured on these projects.
Continuing the Program as Volunteer Instructors:
Another desired outcome is to repeat the project with new volunteer instructors each year. At the end of the project, the ‘graduates’ will be offered a special training to upgrade them to volunteer instructor level upon their approval. One measure of success will be the number of graduates that continued to stay in the program as instructors. One aim of the program is to improve the spirit of voluntary work in the society.
Contribution to Regional Projects:
Last but not least, Mediterranean Youth Movement has the aim of improving the peace environment in the regions by connecting people with technology. The results of joint regional projects will me measured in terms of their contribution to the outcome of this aim.

Nature of Population Served (required) |
Half of Turkey’s population is in the 0-24 age bracket. Eighteen percent of Turkey’s present 71.7 million people are in the 15 to 24 age group. This demographic profile combined with information on employability and income suggests that Turkey’s youth, especially those in the country’s less developed regions, do not enjoy the cultural and intellectual opportunities available to their peers in other countries.
Despite Turkey’s young population, computer and internet usage is still not as prevalent as in the developed world. Turkey has few cases where the internet and advanced communication technologies have been effectively utilized for advocacy and public action.
The main reason for this is the lack of access to technology and more importantly, the skills necessary to participate in the new information-based global economy. This lack results in limited opportunities for the youth to participate in decision making, to network with other youth associations and to build skills for better access to job opportunities.
In accordance, the target group of the Mediterranean Youth Movement Project has been addressed as the socially disadvantaged young people of age 16-26.
The Project aims to support the social capacities of the youth and help them to participate in the new information-based global economy to realize their full potential.
